Sowparnika Dance Academy is a unique and primary dance institution located in south Brunswick,Nj dedicated to the eductiaon,promotion and encouragement of Indian Dance forms like Bharathanatyam,Mohiniyattom,Semi-classical,Fusion,Movie dances and folk dance forms.

The academy offers regular monthly sessions, private sessions and arangetram sessions to kids and adults. We also encourage experienced dancers for our shows. The Academy conducts two events every year -a classical event in summer and the major annual day in Fall. The academy also performs at various dance events in the tri-state area every year.

 Portland audiences will have the opportunity to witness a spectacular art form from India called Kathakali. On April 10th . Kathakali is a theatrical art from "God's own country"- Kerala. It is well known for its elaborate makeup, costumes and story telling.The group will perform “NALACHARITHAM - KATHAKALI DANCE DRAMA.”

Kalyana Sougandhikam is a chapter from the epic Mahabharata, depicts the travails of Bhima who goes in search of Sougandhika flowers at the behest of his beloved wife Panchali. On the way, he meets his half-brother Hanuman and the story unfolds in the unique dramatic style of Kathakali. Crossing mountains and forests, he finally reaches Kadalivana, the divine abode of Hanuman. The commotion in the forest caused by the audacious entry of Bhima awakens Hanuman from his prayers.
